Customization of apparels such as polo T-shirts, honeycomb collared T-shirts, quick dry T-shirts and 100% cotton T-shirts is our forte. We have supplied these customized shirts in Singapore for many years and across all industries.
Over the years, we have gained much experience in custom T-shirt printing in terms of silkscreen printing, heat transfer printing, embroidery, and sublimation. We have also identified t-shirt printing issues which were solved to enable us to supply much better-quality prints to our clients.
Today we are going to address one common silkscreen printing issue that many clients have with other T-shirt suppliers – printing of white artwork on a black colored cotton round neck shirt.
There are 3 common issues that tend to appear with printing of white ink on a black base made of 100% cotton.
First issue lies with poor printing technique which gives a grayish print out instead of a solid white print. Printing technique is extremely important in achieving a good white print. The printer must flood and apply the squeeze in a moderate fashion and pressure. Too hard or too light a pressure or speed will result in faint or undesirable t-shirt printing.
After t-shirt is printed, there’s a need to carry our washing test. This is when 2 more issues will tend to occur – artwork peeling off and cracking.
If artwork peels off, then probably the printer did not carry out post printing treatment. For professional T-shirt printer like DC9 Gifts Pte Ltd, we will always do a heat press of the artwork to ensure this issue does not happen.
Finally, if the T-shirt cracks after washing, then the paint might not be compatible with the shirt material. There’s a need to contact the paint supplier to find out more.
